CHAN OVERVIEW

The Christian Health Association of Nigeria (CHAN) is the umbrella organization for faith-based health institutions in Nigeria, committed to providing quality, accessible, and compassionate healthcare services. CHAN works to strengthen the capacity of member institutions, advocate for health policy improvements, and contribute to Nigeria’s health system development.


PROJECT OVERVIEW

UNICEF in partnership with CHAN as a CSO is supporting the government to strengthen community engagement for Nigeria’s national Measles-Rubella (MR) vaccination catch-up campaign and intensify HPV vaccination.

Over eight months, the initiative will mobilize several teams across wards in 774 LGAs nationwide for MR and target 257 low-performing LGAs in 15 states for HPV.

Activities include effective stakeholder mapping, training ward and community mobilizers, school and faith-based edutainment, tailored information materials, community dialogues to dispel rumours, and youth-friendly health service trainings.

Role Summary

We are seeking dynamic and experienced State Technical Leads to provide technical leadership and coordination for CHAN’s program and initiatives at the state level. This role is crucial in ensuring effective implementation of health programs, capacity building initiatives, and stakeholder engagement at the state level, ensuring alignment with the National Primary Healthcare Development Agency, State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, CHAN and UNICEF strategies. Provide technical support and supervision to LGA leads.


Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate state-level planning and reporting.

  • Liaise with state health authorities and UNICEF field offices.

  • Supervise LGA technical leads and ensure quality service delivery.

  • Monitor vaccination uptake and manage state-level risks.

  • Represent CHAN in state-level EPI coordination platforms.

  • Participate in all state-level ACSMs and facilitative meetings.

  • Facilitate training and coordination of LGA activities.

  • Strong advocacies with SPHCDA and UNICEF officers in the state.

  • Tracking completion of the dashboards.


Required Skills & Expertise

  • Degree in Public Health, Nursing, or Social Sciences.

  • 5+ years’ experience in SBC/ACSM.

  • Strong knowledge of the state demand generation activities and campaigns.

  • Demonstrates robust capabilities in stakeholder engagement.

  • Ability to manage multi-stakeholder engagements.

  • Fluency in the local language of the state is preferred.

  • Ability to manage logistics.

  • Track dashboards and report qualitative and quantitative data.

  • An understanding of immunization programming in Nigeria is an added advantage.

  • Willingness to be engaged immediately.


Capacity Building & Training

  • Design and facilitate capacity building health service programs.

  • Coordinate training sessions on health management and quality improvement.

  • Mentor and support LGA consultants.


Stakeholder Engagement

  • Liaise with state government agencies, ministries of health, and regulatory bodies.

  • Build and maintain strategic partnerships with development partners and NGOs.

  • Represent CHAN at state-level health sector meetings and forums.

  • Facilitate coordination meetings with LGA consultants.


Data Management & Reporting

  • Establish robust data collection and management systems.

  • Prepare comprehensive program reports for national office and donors.

  • Analyze program data to identify trends and inform decision-making.

  • Ensure timely submission of all required reports and documentation.


Quality Assurance

  • Support implementation of quality improvement initiatives.

  • Ensure adherence to best practices.

  • Facilitate peer learning and knowledge sharing among consultants.


Technical Competencies

  • Knowledge of health program design, implementation, and evaluation.

  • Familiarity with donor requirements and compliance procedures.

  • Proficiency in data analysis and report writing.

  • Understanding of quality improvement methodologies.

  • Experience with capacity building and training delivery.


Soft Skills

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.

  • Cultural sensitivity and respect for faith-based values.

  • Fluency in English and relevant local languages.


Deliverables

  • Weekly implementation updates/reports from LGAs and states.

  • Monthly state-level progress reports.

  • Activity reports.

  • Quarterly coordination meeting minutes.

  • Monthly tracking summaries.

  • All meeting retirements and attendance.

  • Willingness to be engaged immediately.


Additional Requirements

  • Computer literacy (MS Office Suite, data management software).
