The Christian Health Association of Nigeria (CHAN) is the largest faith-based health network in Nigeria, providing healthcare services to millions of Nigerians through its member institutions across the country. CHAN is currently implementing the CHAN – UNICEF Zero-IT Project, a strategic initiative aimed at strengthening health systems and improving service delivery across multiple states in Nigeria.
THE OPPORTUNITY
CHAN is seeking qualified and experienced State Finance and Administration Officers to support the implementation of the CHAN – UNICEF Zero-IT Project. Successful candidates will be engaged on a rolling basis effective April 2026, with immediate deployment to their respective implementing states. This is an excellent opportunity for finance and administration professionals passionate about health systems strengthening and development work.
Implementing States: Adamawa, Bauchi, Ogun, Ondo, Lagos, Bayelsa, Niger, Kebbi, and FCT Abuja.
KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

| • Manage state-level project finances and budgets.

| • Ensure adherence to CHAN and UNICEF financial guidelines.
• Support internal and external audit processes. • Implement financial controls and safeguards. |
• Prepare periodic financial and administrative reports.
• Liaise with state teams and CHAN headquarters. • Participate in project review meetings and planning sessions. |
SPECIFIC DUTIES
- Manage and maintain the state project account, ensuring timely payment of approved expenditures in line with the project budget and work plan.
- Prepare monthly financial statements, bank reconciliations, and retirement of advances in accordance with CHAN and UNICEF financial management standards.
- Maintain a comprehensive filing system for all financial and administrative documents, ensuring easy retrieval for audit and review purposes.
- Coordinate procurement activities at the state level, ensuring compliance with approved procurement procedures and documentation requirements.
- Support the management and tracking of project assets, supplies, and inventory at the state level.
- Facilitate logistical arrangements for project activities, trainings, and field visits, including travel, accommodation, and materials.
- Prepare and submit periodic financial and administrative reports to the CHAN project management team and relevant stakeholders.
- Liaise with state government, UNICEF field offices, and other partners as required to support project implementation.
- Ensure compliance with all statutory requirements, including applicable tax regulations and organizational policies.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Finance Manager, Finance Director or the CHAN Project Management Team in furtherance of project objectives.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

| • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience in financial management and administration, preferably in an NGO or development programme setting. • Strong knowledge of financial management principles and donor reporting requirements. • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and accounting software. • Excellent organisational and communication skills in English. • Ability to work with minimal supervision and meet deadlines. |
• Professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, or equivalent).
• Experience working on UNICEF or other UN-funded projects. • Familiarity with Nigerian government financial regulations and statutory requirements. • Experience with grants management and donor compliance. • Demonstrated ability to prepare financial reports for development partners. • Knowledge of internal controls and audit readiness is an added advantage. |
