CHAN STRATEGIC PLAN WORKSHOP
He expressed the hope that CHAN represented by eminent stakeholders in the workshop, will take the opportunity to shape the future strategic direction to help achieve her vision, mission, and theory of change and to effectively and efficiently adapt our structures accordingly.” This strategic plan being developed would guide CHAN activities for the next five years in the dispensation of her activities in the context of service delivery, relationship with her member institutions and management of CHAN resources and her subsidiaries in general. To ensure that the strategic plan captures all the areas that needed attention for the growth, improvement and sustainability of CHAN, the workshop brought together both the President of CHAN, first vice president of CHAN, National Executive Council members comprising of the four Zonal chairmen, CHAN Management, staff of CHAN and other stakeholders of CHAN from different walks of life. The workshop gave room for cross fertilization of ideas and optimal utilization of talents from the various stakeholders that were brought together through the workshop. The stakeholders looked at the various critical and vital issues that need urgent attention in CHAN as an organization and her member institutions. The key issues discussed focused on the areas of Inclusion, elimination of barriers to uptake of health care services, relationship of CHAN with her member institutions, diversification of CHAN resources and the general management of CHAN and her subsidiaries. At the end of the strategic planning workshop, the stakeholders through their discussions and exchange of robust ideas agreed in unison that they would want to see the following changes at the end of the 5 years planning period as follows: - • Growth • Increased capacity and sustainability of member institutions services • Satisfaction with CHANs services • Elimination of barriers to uptake of healthcare services • Reduced rate of disabilities • Improved health seeking behavior • Improved health indices that are measurable These changes were later streamlined into this vision ”Providing efficient services by building the capacity of members in collaboration with partners to improve the health for all in Nigeria and beyond.” CHAN is a non-governmental, not-for-profit service organization founded in 1973 by the Catholic Bishops conference of Nigeria (CBCN), the Christian council of Nigeria (CCN), and the northern Christian medical advisory council (NCMAC), coordinating church sponsored healthcare throughout Nigeria. In accordance with her mission, CHAN compliments government efforts in healthcare service delivery in Nigeria by assisting her member institutions (MIs) in reaching more people, especially the unreached with health services that are affordable and of good quality. The Secretary General, Mr. Mchael Idah while thanking the stakeholders in his remark, acknowledged the support from Africa Christian Health Association Platform( ACHAP) and IMA world health for supporting the process.

126 Oxygen concentrators distributed to CHAN MIs to combat the impact COVID-19 courtesy of DIFAEM. One hundred (100) MIs received free IPC materials and various PPE donations courtesy ACHAP/IMA and DIFAEM towards protecting lives of Healthcare Workers and improving/controlling infections in the health facilities and communities. Provided training on Infection, Prevention and Control (IPC) to over 200 Healthcare Workers in Nigeria. Ten (10) Motorized Boreholes provided for 10 CHAN MIs that had challenges of potable water supply in the four zones of CHAN to help promote hand hygiene, courtesy of ACHAP and IMA World Health. CHAN and NPHCDA successfully signed an MOU to reach out to vulnerable Nigerians. CHAN in collaboration with ACHAP/UNAIDS and NACA produced for Nigeria a training Manual titled: Ending HIV and AIDS Stigma and Discrimination: A training Curriculum for Facilitators in Public and Faith-Based Settings. CHAN contributed significantly in reducing S&D against HIV and AIDS in Nigeria by training Health Care Workers and Religious leaders. 98 Heads f CHAN MIs and CHAN officials were trained in effective Lobbying and Advocacy. Provided training on effective corporate governance & leadership and effective lobbying & advocacy for BOT and members. 48 MIs were served by VA through CHAN, 1,027,700 people were reached specifically with Micro-nutrients vitamins for pregnant women and Albendazole for de-worming children.
