Bread for the World in 2016 Organized the first “DO NO HARM” training with a view that all their partners in Nigeria will Stream line the Concept into their Programming. A Second training was Organized in 2017 to further deepen the knowledge in the Various Organization as it appeared that most Organizations needed their Capacity to be further built.
CHAN Participated fully in all the trainings.
DO NO HARM (DNH)Is a concept or a Lifestyle that seek the best outcome in a situation to all parties. DNH for Health Care workers ensure that the cure is not worse than the disease or Intervention does not cause harm to that which it is meant to help or address. The Concept focuses on the implicit Ethical Message you send in the Process of wanting to do the right thing or treat a patient, but leaving that situation better than you met it.
CHAN’s Activities with DNH
After the DNH Training in Nigeria for all Bread for the World Partners, CHAN is building the capacity of some of its Mission Institutions in the use of the DNH tools. The training was streamlined into CHAN’s Advocacy Trainings held in Kaduna in January 2018 and in Abuja with Participants drawn from all CHAN’s working 18 states in February 2018.
Emphasis was on using the DNH Concept to reduce tension that occurs in our Organizations and increase the connecting factors within the health care facility and the environment they work, thereby minimizing friction which would have occurred.
The Do No Harm (DNH) concept ensures that actions, especially in healthcare, help without causing harm. Bread for the World trained partners, including CHAN, in DNH to integrate it into their programs. CHAN later trained its mission institutions to use DNH tools, focusing on reducing tensions and improving relationships within healthcare facilities and their communities. This approach promotes ethical, effective healthcare and better outcomes for all.
